Man, I love dogs. I've been grown with airedales, my grandpa was a breeder and now have two dobermans, the girl is also from a animal welfare organization. While I think I could adopt a dog temporarily, my spouse would apdopt them and keep them for sure. She would never ever the go every weekend to look for an other home for the dog, it wiuld kill her heart. But we give a lot of things to animal welfare, like blankets, toys and other stuff.

James you have to keep Bella for sure, think of the dogs heart if he gots a new home, think of the joy you will give up and the gap she leaves behind.

Bernie looks like a little rascal. Hard to tame but a heart of a dog.

This isn't high school. If you don't want to study or get better, get out! Your just going to end up wasting everyone's time.

If I don't do my work at University the prof is not going to sit there and make sure I did it or go through my homework. You do it so you can get better. I try to spend 20 minutes studying for every hour I play a day. Whether that is making a video, reviewing individual hands, doing HH's and sending them to James and Colin, or just reviewing HH's myself. Your not going to get better if you don't do it and your wasting Colin and James' time.

These two really put in a lot of work everyday for us to get better at these games and they don't need too. They could easily just keep crushing the games and play more volume.

Personally I'm very grateful that they have taken the time to show me how to master a certain game of poker and it has forever changed my views on poker.

Before this program I was a really solid 20$ regular SNG player that never studied and relied solely on good poker instinct. My best friend is exactly the same one of the best 20$ regular SNG players without having ever studied, or using a HUD.

I've been trying to convince him to change his ways for the last 6 months and would have considered us equal before this program but now just based solely on my studying habits I'm a full mile ahead of him in any poker game.

STUDY STUDY STUDY and put some effort in. Don't waste James and Colin's time, its not fair at all. If you don't know, use the forum. Email Colin or James. Talk to other students on Skype.

Put hand reviews on the forum even if you think you know the right play it helps to get other views on situations and other students learn something from it.

I agree that my suggestion with 5hand/100games, ect. can't really be carried out.
But if you teach someone who doesn't really want to study on his own, than some exact homeworks you give him could be useful, I think.

The rant was good! The video is awesome. I have actually been creating a few filters here and there and this is just plain outright an awesome thing to help your students study. Of course you can provide the filters all you want, but it is ultimatley up to us to study and use them!!

I started a thread in the forum where hopefully all of us can start to put up other filters to help each other out. There are always going to be things we might not think about reviewing and keeping a discussion going about it can help everyone who uses this tool to study stay sharp and not fall into complacency.

Excellent read and nothing but great points as usual. Not that I don't study, but this was definitely the kick in the butt I needed. I review hands or spots all the time, but one thing I've been slack on is actually sending HH's in for review. I can review on my own all day long, but without another mind giving feedback, there are a lot of things I'm going to miss.

I can't really say why I stopped sending them in. I guess at some point I just got so used to reviewing myself that I decided that was all I needed. Regardless of why, this is something I will absolutely be doing going forward. I'm nearing the end of the program, so I need to make sure I take full advantage while I can! I know the guys will be there to help even after my 25k games, but still, I need to get back into this good habit NOW!

Great read. Although I'm a guest on the site and am friends to Colin and James and don't play these games in particular, I can relate to everything that James touched upon. Taking your time to study in addition to receiving coaching from these guys is the key to success. Results aren't going to be handed to you on a silver platter, it is up to you as an individual to decide how good you want to be at this game. Sure, I have natural poker talent that I've picked up on from playing thousands of hands, but without studying you will not achieve your goals. My man crush Adam Carolla says that intelligence is not measured on paper but those with wit are those that achieve their goals. If you are sitting down bitching and moaning about variance and how you just run bad all day long then you are just going to waste your time, your coaches' time, and most importantly your money.

@ Greg: those are some good ideas, however, i foresee a few problems with that kind of approach. firstly, this would add quite a bit of bookkeeping work for Colin and I. i can't imagine having to keep track of whether or not you sent us 5 individual hands for every 100 games you played when it came time for your lesson. multiply that by the number of students we have and i would spend half my day just trying to keep that stuff straight.

the other problem is that it's sort of limiting in your approach to studying. HH review isn't always the optimal method to studying a certain leak, like I eluded to in the article, and placing such a requirement on you could make your study bland, static, and uninteresting which is something i don't want.

i do understand that there may be times when you find yourself unmotivated to study, so rather than me forcing you to do so, maybe it would be a good idea for me to work on things that might motivate you to work harder. do you want to be one of the best super turbo players in the game? do you want to see your name on top of a leaderboard? is there a certain amount of money, that you if you earned it, would allow you to fulfill some kind of dream outside of poker? do you aspire to play at a certain buy-in level? reminding yourself why you're here can be a great motivator.

you don't have to answer those questions here, and i'm not suggesting you should answer them with any specific kind of response either. but if i know the answers, i may be able to motivate you a little more, rather than forcing you to send me hand histories :)
